In the head a whole work is born. First you hear it, then write it down. It simply appears in your head from nowhere. I wrote one work in this way, and it was a strange experience. In fact, it happened on the composition exam: I did not prepare, I came an hour before the exam, I wrote the work and successfully passed it (however I recommend to prepare). The drawback of this method is that if you do not have inspiration, then magic will not happen - there will be no music.
Probably, music is born in your subconscious or somewhere else. I think that the idea is gradually being formed in the depths of your mind and, in the final analysis, turns into a result. Then you hear it and write it down. Sometimes you have no choice, because the idea "requires" to be recorded. This feeling can not be confused with anything.
