THIS THING GOES WITH THE SONG
Cobalt stared at the cross of planks sticking out of the dirt mound. It was a crude burial at best, nothing fit for his sister. Although, It was... at least a nice place to be buried. The mound stood near the edge of the cliff overlooking one of the most breathtaking valleys left in the wasteland, untouched by the balefire and the war entirely.
“You deserved more than this...” He whispered, bringing the horn to his lips. "But I'll do my best for you."
He began to play softly. Mournful tones rolled across the valley, filling every crevice with the sad notes. Unbeknownst to him, his brother, Midnight, quietly walked up to him, horn in hand.
Tears formed in Cobalt's eyes as he continued to play, pouring all of his sorrow and regrets into the notes he played, the song consuming him for all he was. He was soon caught off-guard as a second horn accompanied him, reaching a perfect harmony with his own. He looked over to see his brother playing alongside him, clearly playing with notes of heartfelt sorrow of his own. Ratchet watched in silence behind them as the two horn players reached a crescendo and ended their playing, breaking down into tears.
