MADEGE STORY-HEALTH CARE IN ZANZIBAR
Milele Zanzibar Foundation in partnership with private hospital and religious institutes held the one week training workshop for health workers for the purpose of improving the quality of health service delivery in rural Zanzibar where the health care services are very poor.
Speaking to the Journalists in the training workshop, Ministry of Health, Director of Prevention, Dr. Fadhil M. Abdallah said that those who completed the training should consider a leadership, ethics, and community engagement training and assigned them their locations for their month long volunteer in rural Zanzibar.
Head of Programs at Milele Zanzibar Foundation, Khadija Shariff said the outcome of the training will support community health activities so that they can better understand the issues and challenges of rural based healthcare service delivery, as well as develop professional skills necessary to solve various health related issues.
In preparations to commence their volunteer fieldwork, participants have completed a week long professional development training which focused on strengthening leadership and community engagement through communication, problem solving, team building, program cycle management and customer service skills.
Some participants thank Milele Zanzibar Foundation for arrenging this training for health workers for the benefit of the rural communities that provided the skills and knowledge to better serve the communities and design to solve health related issues.
The trainings focused on, among other things, self awareness, team work, leadership skills, volunteerism, ethics, dimensions of quality service delivery, customer care, project cycle management, and development planning, and assessing community needs.
