For this piece, we started out with quarter notes and then people introduced rhythmic ideas. For an idea to live, at least one other person had to pick it up. We found in review of the piece that; 1. It adds to the piece to sustain a steady pulse or a previous idea across the changes, such as sustaining the quarter notes across the piece and; 2. It is best when multiple ideas are going on at once (possibly unstructuredly pass "solo" responsibilities around the room?).
