Tanzania affirms it will do everything in its power to implement Sustainable Development Goal 5 on women’s empowerment and other key gender equality targets and indicators in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It will ensure the full integration within national law of all women’s rights treaties, particularly the convention on the elimination of all dorms of Discrimination against women.
Duputy minister for Health, Community development, Gender, Elders and Children said that all remaining laws with discriminatory provisions will be amended, specifically those related to marriage, property and inheritance and a stand alone act on ending violence against women will be developed.

The Tanzania general election was not free and fair due to the violence against Women in elections recognizes that violence against women in elections is a threat to the integrity of the electoral process that was affect women’s participation as voters, candidates, election officials, activists, and political party leaders and it undermines the free, fair, and inclusive democratic process.
Gender equality activist Dr Ave Maria Semakafutold reporters in Dar es Salaam today when release the general election report from local observers and suggest that analysis and program implementation focused on increasing women’s participation and leadership in democracy assistance.
STORY THREE
Despite the world is advanced in science and technology but in Tanzania more than 800 girls were subjected to female genital mutilation (FGM) in northern Tanzania last month, a local government official said, despite a police crackdown to stop the practice that affects millions of girls in the east African country.
Twelve women suspected to have carried out the ritual, which involves the partial or total removal of the external genitalia, have been arrested as the police investigate the case, Tarime District Commissioner Glorious Luoga said.
According to World Health Organizatio up to 7.9 million girls and women in Tanzania are thought to have undergone FGM, with the illegal procedure often carried out in secret initiation, or rite of passage, ceremonies FGM which conducted by traditional surgeon used razor blades to carry out female circumcision, also known as female genital mutilation

More heart patients will now be treated in the country compliments to the official inauguration of the state of the art Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute at the Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam Tanzania saving lives and reducing costs in the process.
Addressing the Muhimbili community on behalf of President Jakaya Kikwete in Dar es Salaam, Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr Seif Rashid advised the National Health Insurance Fund to start accommodating heart complications in their medication support schemes.
The successful surgeries performed by the have been hailed by many as part of the much-needed steps toward reducing the dependence of Tanzanians and Africans in general on foreign medical assistance.
